- CAIRO: Several thousand Egyptians marched to the Israeli Embassy in Cairo, protesting Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip.
Around 2,000 protesters broke away from a mass demonstration Friday in central Tahrir Square — which was demanding ousted president Hosni Mubarak and his family be put on trial for alleged corruption — to march on the embassy on the other side of the Nile River.
Chanting slogans against Israel, they were stopped at a military checkpoint that kept them away from the embassy entrance.
