Inaugurating the International Health Insurance Conference “Options and Prospects,” the minister said: "Besides the insurance scheme, the Ministry of Health is geared to provide equal health care facilities and privileges to all citizens throughout the Kingdom." He added that the government under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has allocated adequate funds to cater to the health needs of the population.He said the conference aims to introduce a scientific approach to providing health care and to exchange knowledge and expertise about health insurance and health care services. He added that the participants will also focus on innovating and developing sustainable solutions for health care funding in the Kingdom.The minister also opened an exhibition that would run concurrently with the conference held at the Riyadh Exhibition Center.The second session of the conference will feature comparisons between a number of national health care systems.The conference is being attended by a number of local health care specialists, along with 12 speakers from Europe, America and South Africa."The participants in the conference will discuss and develop sustainable solutions for health care funding in the Kingdom," said Dr. Khaled Al-Mirghalani, spokesman of the Ministry of Health, which is organizing the event.There are 26 licensed health insurance companies currently operating in the Kingdom, and the number of Ministry of Health-approved health care providers exceeds 2,227.
