- JEDDAH: A municipal official revealed on Saturday that in the coming months the municipality will stop using paper in issuing and registering violations in the city and use PDAs instead.
Women inspectors for the municipality have begun receiving the devices.
“These efforts follow Mayor Hani Aburas’s initiative to support women inspectors and women's affairs at the municipality," said Assistant Secretary for Women's Affairs department Arwa Al-A’ama. "We started using the new devices instead of paper, which will ease inspection and correction process during our fieldwork. PDA devices will allow for quicker citation printing and registering irregularities.”
The municipality employs nine women who make between 30 and 40 visits to the estimated 1,500 women-only shops, which is primarily made up of beauty salons and spas.
