- MINERAL WELLS, Texas: A North Texas woman who evacuated her lakeside home has turned her hotel room into an information hub for one of the state’s largest wildfires.
Jackie Fewell, her husband and several friends have been updating a blog she created about the fire around Possum Kingdom Lake.
According to the Texas Forest Service, the fire has consumed 150,000 acres and destroyed about 150 homes in several communities.
Fewell said residents in her community have been desperate for accurate information. Fewell and her team have been chatting with folks who refused to evacuate, listening to a law enforcement scanner and even watching live feed from a security camera at a house.
The Possum Kingdom Lake fire is one of several massive blazes in Texas that firefighters were still battling Wednesday.
