- PRAGUE: Czech Education Ministry says the EU has approved a multi-million dollar scientific project that includes the construction of the world’s most powerful laser device that could be used in cancer treatment and thermonuclear fusion research.
The ministry statement said a $420 million scientific center will be opened in Dolni Brezany near Prague in 2014.
It says scientists from 13 EU countries will participate in the project.
The ministry says the laser will be used in cancer treatment, new ways of dealing with nuclear waste and thermonuclear fusion research.
