- TAIF: The Ministry of Commerce receives close to 1,500 complaints a week from citizens and expatriates all over the Kingdom about unjustifiably high prices but doesn't take any concrete action, a ministry official has claimed.
The source, who preferred anonymity, told Al-Madinah newspaper that the ministry is only distributing these complaints among its 27 branches in various parts of the Kingdom and urging merchants not to artificially inflate prices.
"The ministry is unable to take any action against these merchants simply because there are no rules, regulations or legislation governing the prices of commodities except fuel and gas," he said.
The sources said the complaints went directly to the ministry's operations room.
He said price rises range from 50 halalas to SR40.
