“We have come together as Indian parents, irrespective of language, whether we speak Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, or any other language,” said concerned parent Abdul-Aziz Shuckly. “Parents from all parts of India have all come together for this problem that we are all facing.”

“There is no justification for the 30-to-40 percent jump,” said Shuckly. “It came as a shock to us parents. We were not even informed in advance. The fee hike was announced without discussing with the parents.”

He pointed out that the increases will make the cost of education prohibitively expensive for larger families. The IISJ student body numbers over 10,600, from kindergarten to Grade XII.

Yasin Askary and Mohamed Abdul-Aziz were elected by the parents as joint conveners of the so-called Indian Parents Forum.

Speaking to Arab News, Askary said they are planning to hold a meeting with Indian Consul General in Jeddah Faiz Kidwai. They submitted a petition to Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi on his recent visit to the Kingdom, as well as to other ministers. The India Parents Forum said they plan to bring together as many Indian parents as possible to oppose the fee hike.
