He died of an undisclosed condition on Wednesday. He was born in Al-Malqa village near Riyadh in 1919.

Ibn Khamis produced dozens of works covering, literature, criticism, history and travels include “History of  Yamama”, “Al-Daraeya”, “Popular Literature of the Peninsula,” “Our country and Oil” and “A Sojourn to Western America.”

With the publication of Al-Jazirah magazine in 1959, he became one of pioneers of journalism in the Kingdom. The magazine later became a daily newspaper.

He was also a member of the Damascus-based Arabic Language Academy, and the Academy of Arabic Language in Cairo, the Iraqi Scientific Academy, the King Abdul Aziz Foundation for Research and Archives, Al-Jazirah Media, Printing and Publishing Establishment and Riyadh Al-Birr Society. He was also the first president of the Riyadh Literary Club. He was also undersecretary at the Ministry of Communications, rector of the College of Shariah and the College of Arabic Language in Riyadh.
