- ABHA: Three tourist accommodation facilities in Asir province were temporarily closed down and 73 others were asked to pay fines ranging between SR5,000 and SR10,000 for not having licenses or for violating various rules and regulations, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) announced Sunday.
The provincial director of the SCTA, Abdullah Mataen, said field inspections discovered 142 violating facilities of which 76 were punished and the cases of the 66 were being investigated. He said there are 949 hotels and furnished apartments for tourists in Asir province.
