Athletics 4 Angels 3: In Anaheim, Brett Anderson pitched eight scoreless innings to steer last-placed Oakland past Los Angeles.

Anderson (3-4) beat the Angels for the first time in six career starts.

Los Angeles’ runs came from a three-run homer with two outs in the ninth, but the hosts could not get a tying run.

Andy LaRoche drove in three runs for the A’s.

Angels starter Joel Pineiro (2-1) allowed 11 hits in 6 1-3 innings.

White Sox 3 Blue Jays 1:In Toronto, Juan Pierre’s ninth-inning infield single drove in the tiebreaking run as Chicago downed Toronto.

Pierre went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

Jesse Crain (2-1) pitched a third of an inning for the win and White Sox closer Sergio Santos finished the ninth for his eighth save in nine opportunities.

Marc Rzepczynski (2-1) allowed two runs in one inning to take the loss for the Blue Jays, who have lost three straight.

Orioles 6 Royals 5, 12 innings: In Baltimore, Vladimir Guerrero singled home the winning run in the 12th inning to give Baltimore its season-high fifth straight victory, edging Kansas City.

Robert Andino led off the 12th with a single off Louis Coleman (0-2), the sixth Kansas City pitcher. After a pop out and an intentional walk, Guerrero hit a bouncing single up the middle to bring home Andino.

The Orioles squandered a bases-loaded, no-out situation in the 11th before coming through in the 12th.

Baltimore reliever Jeremy Accardo (3-1) worked two perfect innings for the victory.
