Blake Wood (2-0), the sixth Royals pitcher, threw a perfect 13th for the win.

Hosmer had four hits and four RBIs for the first time in his career.

In Seattle, Ichiro Suzuki and Brendan Ryan each hit run-scoring grounders in the sixth inning as Seattle defeated the New York Yankees.

Yankees starter A.J. Burnett gave up just two runs through five innings, but Boone Logan and Luis Ayala struggled in relief. Ayala (1-1) picked up the loss.

David Pauley (3-0) worked two scoreless innings in relief of starter Michael Pineda to get the victory.

In Detroit, Jacoby Ellsbury and Carl Crawford homered in a five-run third inning to help Boston beat Detroit for its 12th victory in the last 14 games.

Tim Wakefield (2-1) got his 195th career win, allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings.

Rick Porcello (4-3) gave up a season-high six runs in three innings.

Crawford has nine hits in his last 12 at-bats, including two homers and seven RBIs.

In St. Petersburg, Florida, David Price struck out a career-high 12 batters over seven innings and Casey Kotchman and Sam Fuld both homered as Tampa Bay shut out Cleveland.

Price (6-4) scattered four hits and walked two. The left-hander had given up 10 runs in 11 2-3 innings during his previous two starts.

The Rays went up 4-0 in the second on two-run homers by Kotchman and Fuld off Josh Tomlin (6-2). Relievers Joel Peralta and Adam Russell completed the four-hitter.

Tampa Bay's Matt Joyce, who started the game hitting an MLB-best .367, had three hits in four at-bats.

In Toronto, Yunel Escobar doubled home the tiebreaking run in the seventh inning for the Blue Jays.

Right-hander Casey Janssen (2-0) pitched one inning of relief for the win as Toronto ended a three-game losing streak.

Shawn Camp got one out and Jon Rauch finished in the ninth for his sixth save in eight opportunities.

The Blue Jays earned a rare win against White Sox left-hander Mark Buehrle (4-4), who came in 5-2 with a 1.78 ERA in his previous eight starts against Toronto.

In Minneapolis, Maicer Izturis hit a go-ahead RBI single in the ninth inning to cap Los Angeles' comeback win over Minnesota.

The Angels trailed 5-0 heading into the eighth but got five runs in the inning off three Twins relievers.

Erick Aybar's three-run homer on the first pitch from Dusty Hughes ignited the rally after Twins starter Scott Baker allowed six singles over seven shutout innings.

Jim Hoey (0-2) picked up the loss after allowing the Angels to level the score on Alberto Callaspo's infield single and Russell Branyan's sacrifice fly.

Scott Downs (3-1) got two outs for the win for Los Angeles.

In Oakland, California, Ryan Sweeney hit a tiebreaking single as part of a three-run sixth inning as the Athletics held on to beat Baltimore.

Josh Willingham homered and drove in two runs for the A's, who won despite manager Bob Geren's first ejection of the season.

Sweeney also doubled and scored twice while Oakland matched its season high with four double plays.
