Israeli Army Radio said the occupiers entered the city without coordinating in advance with the defense establishment. The report said that the occupiers attacked a military driver who sustained light injuries.

The report added that the occupiers also damaged some Palestinian properties, which led to clashes between the occupiers and Palestinian youths. Israeli forces arrested eight Palestinians during the clashes.

Israeli Army spokesman said the soldiers forcibly removed 50 occupiers who insisted on staying in the tomb’s surroundings. The spokesman said, “The irresponsible behavior of the group endangered them as well as the security forces.”

The incident occurred while the Israeli Army allowed a convoy of 25 buses, carrying some 1,600 Jewish worshippers, into the compound for a nighttime prayer service that was coordinated with the military and Palestinian security forces.

In April, an occupier was killed and four were wounded in clashes with Palestinian police following a visit to the compound. The Palestinian Authority said at the time that the shooting was a mistake. It added that the occupiers entered the area without coordinating in advance with the Palestinian authorities.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces on Monday raided Al-Bireh, a suburb of the West Bank city of Ramallah, and arrested five Palestinians, Palestinian security sources said.

Three of those arrested were from Amrine near the northern West Bank city of Nablus, and were detained at a restaurant where they worked.

Two others, both from the area, were arrested at a nearby house, the security sources said.
