The first of these workshops — titled Human Rights: Realities and Prospects — will be held on Tuesday in Sakaka. It will have morning and evening sessions and about 100 men and women are expected to attend.

According to sources at the commission, the workshops are aimed at assessing the opinions of the social institutions of the military and civil sectors, including academics, lawyers, and men of letters on the concept of human rights.

They said the workshops would also discuss the challenges facing human rights and the modalities and mechanisms of dealing with human rights issues.

They said the commission intended to find out society's awareness of human rights and the ways of spreading this culture.

They added that the commission hoped to come out with concrete recommendations about the best methods to spread the culture of human rights in society.
