A large posse of policemen deployed at the incident site intervened and separated the two warring groups.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sena workers burned an effigy of Ajit in the city to register their protest against the deputy chief minister and the NCP.

On Thursday, the NCP workers gathered at the Belbag Square on Thursday to protest against Sena. As soon as the Sena activists learned about it, they too arrived at the same place resulting in clashes between the two groups.

The police had to intervene and separate the violent Sena workers. However, no one was arrested.
