It was a maiden appearance for Al Jazirah Ford’s Al Qahatani on board his Ford RTR equipped with the latest technology. Over 7000 spectators watched this exciting race since the start of the qualifying round during which 16 drivers took part for top honors. Al-Qahtani presented an exciting drifting show that thrilled the spectators.

This round, which was held for the first time in the Kingdom under the patronage of the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation, concluded after some exciting shows and strong competition.

Sabah Abdullah Al Kredes, Al Jazirah Vehicle Co., sales and marketing director said: “I want to say to our driver, Al-Qahtani, congratulations and we are happy to finish on the podium in the team’s first appearence. We consider this an achievement if we look at the short period of time we got for preparing for this event." "We will do our best to support motorsport and hope that our efforts and the team’s sponsor can positively help in the development of this sport in the Kingdom and to give the Saudi youth the opportunity to discover and develop the skills in a safe and well suited environment prepared specially for such activities away from public roads and any risks,” Al Kredes addedAl-Qahtani was happy with this result and said, "Thank God that we reached the podium in our first official participation. We prepared our team recently and in a short period of time managed to introduce remarkable drifting which impressed the spectators. We will be putting extra efforts for the third round, which will be held in Jeddah to win the title.”

The drifting challenge consists of 18 qualifiers to be held in other GCC cities three of which are held in Saudi Arabia. The first round concluded in Riyadh May 20, the second in Alkhobar and the third round would be held in Jeddah on June 9. Winners of the first position in these three rounds will automatically qualify for the final which will held in Beirut on July 22.
