He launched the Mawhiba service on behalf of Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Muhammad, minister of education and deputy chairman of the foundation, at the Four Seasons hotel in Riyadh on Saturday.

In a statement on behalf of Prince Faisal, Al- Subeiti said that in line with the Kingdom’s direction towards an economy based on knowledge that relies on innovation and creativity to facilitate competitiveness, Mawhiba created an electronic environment for the talented and creative using latest techniques.

Al-Subeiti said one of the main goals of the project is to reach every home and school in the country by 2013.

He said 114,000 people had registered with the gate and has attracted more than 3 million visitors.

The highest number of registrations comes from the Makkah province, with more than 22,000 people registered, followed by Riyadh and then the Eastern Province.

Over 90 percent of those who have registered for the service are students, equivalent to more than 100,000 boys and girls. The remainder of registrations is made up of parents and teachers.
