- TAIPEI: Taiwanese and Chinese negotiators says Taiwan will let Chinese tourists travel alone on the island starting in late June.
- Wednesday's announcement by Taiwan's Li Li-chen and China's Zheng Lizhong after a meeting in Taipei comes amid steadily warming ties.
Chinese visitors to the island now travel in supervised groups with tour operators. Li and Zheng say Chinese tourists from certain cities will be allowed to travel alone but details are not final. Previously Taiwan officials said the cities include Beijing, Shanghai and Xiamen.
