- HONG KONG: Ken Hirai says one of his new songs is meant as a message of encouragement to fellow Japanese suffering the devastating earthquake and tsunami struck in March.
- The pop star performed two songs from his new record and his hit «Gently Close Your Eyes» at a suburban Hong Kong mall late Thursday.
After the set, Hirai quickly turned to Japan's recent natural disaster. The title of the 13th and final track translates as "Together." Hirai said it was a very tough time for Japan, but "I hope we can get through this situation soon and see a better day."
Hirai was wrapping up "Japanese Singer" when the disasters struck the northeast coast. He said the title reminded him to represent his country honorably.
