“We set up special examination halls and provided them with all facilities,” he added, while urging officials to do their best in assisting prisoners in their pursuit of knowledge.

Twenty-three inmates sat final exams after studying part-time through a Taiba University program in Madinah. The inmates were exempted from tuition and other fees.

On the other hand, 23 prisoners who were studying on a part-time basis at the Taiba University in Madinah also sat their final exams. Rector of the university Mansour bin Muhamamd Al-Nuzha said these students were exempted from university and tuition fees.

“We are truly serving our obligations to the society,” said Al-Nuzha, who added that this was the second year that the fees had been waived.

People have welcomed the move to waive the fee as it encourages inmates to gain knowledge and make the best use of their time.
