The talks, which were attended by senior SCTA officials, focused on expanding cooperation between the two countries in tourism, antiquities and architectural heritage, an official statement said.

The Hungarian minister and his accompanying delegation commended SCTA’s advanced programs to promote tourism in the Kingdom and preserve antiquities and national heritage.

They said the Kingdom’s historical and cultural heritage would make it a leading player in tourism at regional and international levels.

The Hungarian minister, who arrived in Riyadh on Friday, also met with Economy and Planning Minister Khaled Al-Gosaibi and explored prospects of boosting economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

In December last year, Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nizar bin Obeid Madani paid an official visit to Hungary and signed a cooperation framework agreement with Hungarian Foreign Minister János Martonyi.

After signing the document, the Hungarian foreign minister commented that this agreement would give new impetus to the development of Hungarian-Saudi relations.
