- LONDON: Brian Haw, a British protester who camped outside London's Parliament for 10 years to campaign for peace, has died.
- He was 62.
Haw's family said Sunday that he died Saturday in Germany where he was receiving treatment for lung cancer. Haw set up camp opposite the Houses of Parliament in June 2001 to protest US and British bombing raids on Iraq. His round-the-clock protest widened in scope in the following years with the invasion of Afghanistan.
Haw's tent and collection of pictures showing war victims had become a familiar sight in Parliament Square. Officials tried but failed to remove him from the square.
