It also confirmed on Sunday that a new centralized system program would also be implemented, replacing the old “Maarif” system after 13 years.

According to the schedule, the last day for examinations at intermediate level will be held today (Monday), and Wednesday for secondary school examinations.

On Monday (June 27) the results will be conveyed to the minister of education and the next day the results will be announced during a press conference by ministry officials.

As was the case with previous years, this year's examination period was also marred by a number of traffic accidents in some towns and cities that resulted in deaths and injuries.

Anticipating these accidents, the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) implemented awareness programs in various parts of the Kingdom to warn youths against rash behavior.

In collaboration with education and security organizations, the Haia deployed teams near schools to root out careless driving that might cause deaths or injuries.

School principals were given the authority to stop examinations during emergencies, such as severe weather conditions.

The ministry also gave extensive powers to the departments of education in all regions to monitor examinations in private schools and to dismiss principals and teachers who failed to perform their duties adequately.

Meanwhile, 15 students caught joyriding in Qatif during the examination period were released to sit their test.
