The ministry made the appointments on the recommendation of the Bangladesh Embassy. The new board includes Dr. Mohammed Qamarul Islam as chairman, Dr. Kazi Masudur Rahman as vice chairman and Kawsar Ahmed as treasurer. Other members are Mohamed Zainul Abedin, Dr. Assaduzzaman, Mohamed Waheeduzzaman and Dr. Mohamed Sarwar Jahan.Moiz Al-Qahtani, supervisor general of foreign education at the Ministry of Education, said the selection was made on the recommendation of the country's Ambassador Mohamed Shahidul Islam."The new officials will hold office for a period of one year and they are expected to promote the aims and objectives of the institution."Al-Qahtani said that considering the increased strength of the school, the ministry has appointed seven members to the board instead of five.According to ministry rules, schools that have less than 1,000 students will have five members and those institutions with more than this number should have seven.Community schools in the Kingdom are given the option by the ministry to choose management board members by ballot or on a recommendation made by the country's ambassador.The school has got 1,385 students on its roll and 98 teachers. The school follows the British curriculum and is accredited by the University of Cambridge for IGCSE examinations and by the Edexcel London for GCE Advanced Level Examinations.The school’s activities were managed by principal Mohamed Shaheed Mohamed Hussein since December 2009 when the previous board of management completed their tenure of office.“We have seen 90 percent successful results in EdExcel and IGCSE examinations conducted by Cambridge University," said Hussein, adding that most former students are currently pursuing higher studies in universities and colleges in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
