Kumar removed opener Adrian Barath for 64 then Darren Bravo for 18 and Brendan Nash in 14 deliveries to reduce West Indies to 119 for five in their first innings when lunch was taken.

Ishant Sharma also captured a second wicket as the tourists, who were dismissed for just 246 on the opening day, regained control of the match.

West Indies had started the day at 34-1 but lost Ramnaresh Sarwan for three in the second over of the day, trapped lbw by Sharma.

Barath, whose 122-ball 64 featured nine boundaries and a six, combined with Bravo to steady the innings with a 56-run partnership for the third wicket before both batsmen were caught by wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni off Kumar.

The 24-year-old paceman then claimed a third scalp when Suresh Raina held a sharp catch at third slip to get rid of Nash, leaving Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Carlton Baugh batting on for West Indies.
