- JEDDAH: Yemen needs $1.5 billion in foreign aid to meet the government’s development commitments, and the political crisis has cost the country an estimated $4 billion so far, a senior government official said.
“The government needs $1.5 billion to meet the government commitments for projects that are funded 100 percent by the government,” Abdulla Al-Shater, deputy minister at the ministry of planning and international co-operation, said on the sidelines of a financial conference.
“Until now, estimates for the effect on the economy are over $4 billion. These are losses that we faced from the crisis.”
