The US-based International Campaign for Tibet reported that Tashi Rabten, an editor for the banned literary magazine “Eastern Snow Mountain,” was sentenced June 2 by the Aba Intermediate People’s Court in Sichuan province to four years in jail.

Calls to the Aba Prefecture Intermediate People’s Court on Saturday rang unanswered.

The report says Rabten’s magazine is made up of writers who wrote about Tibet following the 2008 ethnic riots.

China says Tibet has always been part of its territory, but many Tibetans say the region was virtually independent for centuries and Beijing’s control is draining Tibetan culture.
