Bin Dakhel received 64 votes out of 86. Bin Dakhel will succeed former President Ibrahim Elwan. Mansour Al-Balawi, a former president of the club, announced earlier that he is to retire from sports and would not run for the club presidency.

The voting process started at 5 p.m. and lasted until 9:30 p.m. local time. Bin Dakhel was running against three other candidates namely legal representative Medhat Garoob who received 11 votes, the head of Ittihad media center Adnan Jastaneh who received one vote and Ayman Al-Taweel who also received one vote. All members presented their manifesto to run the club for the next four years.

After the election, Bin Dakhel named Ayman Naseef as his deputy and a number of other people to make up his administration team. He said he had a serious plan for the club in order to serve the youth of the Kingdom and the club throughout his tenure. Professional administrators and coaches will be brought to the club and he said he would support them morally and financially.

He said he would recruit local players and bring silverware back to the club after a winless 2010-2011 season.
