- VIENNA: Two youths discovered more than 10,000 euros ($14,550) in an envelope and handed the money in to the Salzburg lost and found bureau on Monday, officials in the Austrian city said.
"We were surprised ourselves by the size of the find," bureau head Kurt Hinteregger said. "That doesn't happen every day." The youths — described by the Austria Press Agency as 15-year-old pupils from Feldkirch in western Austria who were on a school trip — get to keep the money if the rightful owner does not show up within a year.
Even if the owner can claim the money by giving the exact amount and describing the envelope, the finders get to keep 10 percent of the first 2,000 euros and 5 percent of the rest as a reward.
