The trip was a "follow-up" for last week’s visit to Jeddah by King Abdallah and his talks with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, the official Petra news agency said.

Al-Assaf’s talks with Bakhit and Abu Hammour covered "various aspects of bilateral economic ties and means of boosting them in various spheres," the agency said.

"Bakhit praised the fraternal ties existing between the two sisterly countries and the Saudi support for Jordan particularly Riyadh’s backing for Jordan’s admission to the Gulf Cooperation Council, its understanding of the economic challenges facing Jordan in addition to the $400 million Saudi grant and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosque’s recent assertion that Saudi Arabia stands with all its potentials by Jordan in facing all challenges,” it added.

Also on Thursday, Al-Assaf "reiterated Saudi Arabia’s keenness on boosting cooperation ties with Jordan in various spheres and in such a manner that serves the common interests of the two countries and peoples.”
