Police closed down the business, which was selling plates from other Gulf countries, and are currently investigating the owner and workers inside the shop.

Police received a lead when they stopped a jeep with a number plate from another Gulf country. While officers carried out the routine check, they noticed the number plate did not match the one specified on the vehicle registration documents.

The car owner told police he obtained the number plates for SR150 from the car accessory shop and had them installed.

When officers stormed the shop, they seized 20 fake number plates.

A police source said the shop committed a serious offense because these number plates can be used on cars to commit crimes and dodge Saher penalties. Officers are still investigating.
