- Traveling by road in Europe and the United States is very interesting because of the availability of clean motels and restaurants along highways that provide relief to travelers.
In the US, most people who travel all the way from east to west prefer to do so by car, rather than by train. The contrary is happening here: Traveling by car is very difficult, since there are no proper rest houses along our highways.
There are no clean toilets at gasoline stations. Domestic tourism by car does not exist. The statement of Prince Sultan bin Salman, secretary-general of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, regarding rest houses along highways made us all happy, especially when he announced that a decision would be issued soon to fix the problem.
The decision will include several measures to modernize the rest stops and provide better services to travelers, as this is their right. As said, we consider rest houses in Western countries "tourist centers," where locals work and provide wonderful services to travelers.
We hope to see such projects very soon in our country. We have noticed that some of us are not aware of the importance of hygiene. Airport toilets are an example of this, as are plane toilets, which becomes dirty shortly after departure. Bathrooms at rest houses should be maintained around the clock in order to ensure cleanliness.
