The announcement was made recently after Prince Sultan visited Taif, where he met with local officials, including Mayor Muhammad Al-Mukhrej, also the chairman of the Al-Taif Tourism Development Council.

The project will be implemented by the SCTA in collaboration with the Taif governorate and tourism facilities.

During the meeting, Prince Sultan discussed measures to restore the glory of Taif. Describing it as the "crown of national tourism," he urged its preservation.

"Taif is long familiar for tourism activity; it is a first-class tourism city. Skeptical views on tourism feasibility in the Kingdom or claiming that tourism does not have enough acceptance among Saudis reflects ignorance," he said in a statement.

He added that the Kingdom has made good progress in this field, and today tourism has become an industry and reality, and it is no longer a questionable issue.

He cited the support of the government and leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Crown Prince Sultan and Second Deputy Premier Naif for national heritage.

"The government works hand in hand with the private sector to create an excellent and integrated tourism product," he said.

He added that tourism investment is a risk and the government limits its impact. Comprehensive development in this field cannot be reached without government support, he added.
