The celebrations, organized by the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry in coordination with the Riyadh municipality, include festive and recreational events and activities in line with the directives of Riyadh Gov. Prince Salman, who also heads the High Commission for the Development of Riyadh and the capital’s municipality.

A number of official and nonofficial organizations have joined in to help spread joy among residents on this blessed occasion.

Printed booklets detailing the Eid programs have been circulated widely at various shopping malls and media offices for the public.

This year Eid coincides with the school vacation that will enable many men, women and children to celebrate the festive occasion. As a result, Riyadh hotels and managements of furnished accommodation are expecting their room occupancies to increase substantially compared to last year.

The Riyadh municipality in collaboration with a number of official and nonofficial bodies will be offering this year more exciting and enjoyable programs during the Eid that may fall either on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Last year, there were more than 200 shows. All shows are free of charge.

According to Ibrahim bin Mubarak Dujain, undersecretary for services at the municipality, this year's celebrations will carry many surprises for Saudis and their families.

In a statement, Ahmad Tuwaijri, undersecretary for municipality affairs, advised all municipalities in various provinces, cities and concerned agencies to make all the necessary arrangements and exert maximum efforts in preparing for the celebration.

On Eid night the Riyadh municipality is organizing a fireworks display at seven selected locations across the city at 9:15 p.m. Below are the other activities that will take place in the capital:

l The Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium in Al-Malaz Quarter will host many sports activities and shows, including a high diving show, wall trampoline, trapeze artists, and shows involving bicycles, cars and motorcycles from 8:15 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.

l The sixth “Break of Time” barrier championships for automobiles and motorcycles daily from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Shows Square in the Eastern Riyadh Park (Al-Qadissiah Quarter). A number of modified automobiles and motorcycles with the most powerful engines ever will take part in this championship for full three days. They will aim to complete the race in the quickest possible time. The championship includes three automobile categories. Awards will be given to the top three winners in each category.

l The Remote Control Air show will be held with the participation of a number of professionals from Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf at the Shows Square in Eastern Riyadh Park (Al-Qadissiah Quarter) from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

l A video games competition will take place at the Municipality Tent on Salahuddeen Road for the sixth year in a row from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Children and young people will compete in a virtual football tournament.

l A play for the deaf, organized by Grain Silos Organization, will take place from 10 p.m.

l A number of various festival activities for families will be organized at Shows Square on Eastern Ring Road from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. They will include a wall trampoline, trapeze artists, folklore tent and displays involving bicycles and motorcycles.

l Al-Dawa Celebrations Square will host activities, including a folklore tent for families with separate seating arrangements for women and men from 8:15 p.m. to midnight.

l A folklore tent at Al-Kindy Square in the Diplomatic Quarter, hosted by the Riyadh municipality, will present folklore and other activities by various communities of the Kingdom, from 8 p.m. to midnight.

l Durrat Al-Hada'ek Festival will feature a folk bazaar where some craftsmen will introduce a men's tent, children’s theater, puppet show, a world fashion show, and drawing and coloring activities, from 6:30 p.m. to midnight.

l King Abdulaziz Historical Center will have a folklore tent at Al-Murabaa Square from 5 p.m. to midnight.

l Al-Sweidy Shows Square will feature a games night for families, with several teams competing in a number of interesting and challenging games. Prizes will be distributed to the participants and the audience. A children’s theater, games, Kirki'aan Al-Eid cart and a balloon cart feature from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., while a remote control car race activity takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

l Prince Salman Community Center will present folklore arts and a Feats of the Nations program with the participation of various communities, plays for women and children, carnival, games and prizes, all for women. These and the following activities are scheduled from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

l King Fahd Cultural Center is organizing a festival comprising traditional themed activities, songs, stories and folk poetry presented by several Saudi women poets, a children operetta, special activities for handicapped children, games and prizes.

l King Abdulaziz Historical Center will organize national and folklore shows, a poetry evening for women and games for children.

l Disabled Children Association (King Fahd Quarter) is hosting a festival comprising traditionally themed activities, songs, stories and folk poetry, folklore shows, comedy, a poetry evening, and play areas for children.

l Saud Al-Babtain Cardiac Center is organizing a series of women's activities, including folklore.
