The rocks that fell from hills were from behind the Halad View building, a police official told Arab News on phone. The landslide occurred at 12.15 in the afternoon. While one lost the life, the fire brigade was able to rescue three persons, two who were seriously injured in the landslide. All the three were admitted to the Sion hospital. The Halad Building was also damaged partially in the landslide. Few cars that were parked outside the building were also damaged by the rocks that fell from the landslide, the police official said.

Apart a portion of a house wall collapsed at Abdul Wahab Chawl in Qureshi Nagar in suburban Kurla at around 1.30pm on Monday afternoon, but fortunately nobody was injured.

Throughout Monday, rail traffic on the harbor and Western railway was badly affected as water clogged the tracks and made the suburban and long distance train services come to a halt. In between when the rains stopped for a few hours and water were drained by the railway staff at different stations, local trains was seen running.

However, the Bombay Electricity and Suburban Transport (BEST) the lifeline of Mumbai remained partially affected but was ferrying stranded passengers of the railways to different suburbs of the city. Commuters stranded in between the railway stations were seen walking on the tracks to nearby stations and then traveling by BEST, taxis and auto rickshaws to their homes.

According to According to Disaster Management Cell of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, there were no other incidents except that at the Halad View building and Kurla. According to weather forecast by an official of the India Metrological Department (IMD) heavy rains would continue for next two days in Mumbai and small spells of downpour in rest of Maharashtra. The rains in Mumbai however did not affect the arrival and departure of national and international flights at the Santa Cruz domestic airport and the Sahar International Airport.
