- MADRID: Alberto Contador called his season “very positive,” and marked next year’s Tour de France as top priority despite doping charges hanging over him.
Contador, speaking on Spanish state TV, says he was very happy with his second Giro d’Italia win and a fifth-place finish in the Tour this year.
The Spanish cyclist awaits his November date with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which will rule whether he forfeits his 2010 wins in the Tour and Giro because of a failed drug test blamed on contaminated meat.
Contador says he is not thinking about the case — “it’s in the hands of my lawyers” — but that he’d like to attend the Nov. 21-24 hearing in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Contador hopes a decision will be reached before the close of 2011.
