- MANILA: A Philippine official says four Filipino housemaids working for a relative of Libya’s Muammar Qaddafi are safe and will be helped to leave their employer safely.
Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman Raul Hernandez said Sunday that Foreign Undersecretary Rafael Seguis talked by phone to one of the four maids and learned they are safe and secure. He said they want to return home as soon as possible. Seguis was sent to Libya to help evacuate any of the 1,700 Filipino workers, mostly nurses, who have remained there but now want to leave.
