Desmond Jennings opened the 11th with a triple off Daniel Bard (2-7) that lunging center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury couldn’t reach. After B.J. Upton hit a grounder to first, Longoria lined a single to center on an 0-2 pitch.

Brandon Gomes (2-1) worked 1 1-3 perfect innings for the Rays.

In Anaheim,  California, Dan Haren pitched a four-hitter for his fifth career shutout and retired 18 straight batters as the Los Angeles Angels climbed within 11/2 games of the AL West lead with a victory over CC Sabathia and the New York Yankees.

Haren (15-8) went the distance for the 15th time in 253 career starts, striking out seven and walking none for the 13th time this season. He threw 113 pitches and held the AL East leaders to a pair of eighth-inning singles after giving up a ground-rule double to Derek Jeter on his second pitch and a single by rookie Jesus Montero leading off the second.

In Chicago, Alex Rios hit a game-ending grand slam in the 10th inning to lift the Chicago White Sox over Cleveland.

Rios’ one out, first-pitch shot off Chris Perez (3-7) was Chicago’s first game-ending home run this season and his first career grand slam.

Alejandro De Aza doubled twice, walked and scored two runs for Chicago. Gordon Beckham had a double, two walks and two RBIs.

In Detroit,  Brandon Inge hit his second game-ending homer of the season, giving the Tigers a victory over the Twins.

With two out in the bottom of the ninth, Inge hit a 2-1 pitch into the left-field stands off Glen Perkins (4-4) to give Detroit its eighth straight victory.

Inge hit a game-ending homer on April 13 against Texas’ Darren Oliver . His only other homer this season came in his first at-bat with the Tigers after an monthlong exile to Triple-A Toledo.

Al Alburquerque (6-1) picked up the victory with a perfect ninth inning.

In Arlington, Texas, pinch-hitter Scott Sizemore’s grand slam in the sixth inning helped the Athletics end a nine-game skid against Texas.

With the score tied at 3, Rangers starter Alexi Ogando (12-8) hit Josh Willingham with a pitch leading off the sixth, and David DeJesus followed with a single. Texas manager Ron Washington replaced Ogando with left-hander Mike Gonzalez.

Ryan Sweeney attempted to bunt, and Gonzalez made a nice play to get a force at third. After Brandon Allen was retired on a foul popup, Gonzalez walked Kurt Suzuki to load the bases, and Washington again went to his bullpen and brought in Yoshinori Tateyama .

In Toronto, pinch-hitter J.P. Arencibia hit a game-winning single with two out in the ninth as the Blue Jays rallied to beat the Orioles, snapping Baltimore’s winning streak at three games.

Trailing 4-3 to begin the inning, Toronto’s David Cooper struck out against Clay Rapada before Orioles manager Buck Showalter called closer Kevin Gregg (0-3) in to finish. Gregg struck out Brett Lawrie but couldn’t close it out, walking Kelly Johnson , giving up a single to Jose Molina and hitting pinch-hitter Adam Loewen to load the bases.

In Seattle, Felipe Paulino struck out 11 and allowed two hits in seven innings, and Eric Hosmer his a two-run homer in the first to lead Kansas City over Seattle.

Paulino (3-10) gave up homers to Justin Smoak and Mike Carp , but he tamed the rest of the Mariners. He tied his career high in strikeouts and walked none.

The Royals scored three runs in the first inning, highlighted by Hosmer’s 17th homer. Jeff Francoeur added a ninth-inning solo shot, his 18th homer this season.
