Waqaniburotu is accused of making a dangerous “tip tackle” on a South African opponent during the Pool D match at Wellington on Saturday. He will appear before Independent Judicial Officer Christopher Quinlan of England at a hearing that has yet to be scheduled.

Waqaniburotu, who is based in New Zealand, is the third player to be cited at the Rugby World Cup after England lock Courtney Lawes and US captain Todd Clever.

Lawes was suspended for two matches, while Clever escaped without penalty.
