The training course, which lasted for five days and commenced on Sept. 21, trained participants on how to categorize and certify tourist compounds, resorts, furnished flats, highway lodges, motels and hotel villas.

The course included information on how to respond to breaches of regulations, other violations and complaints to effectively apply SCTA rules and regulations.

Salah Al-Bakheet, vice president for investment at the SCTA, pointed out that the new way of categorizing was not far from the original method of classifying hotels and furnished flats.

Al-Bakheet stressed on the importance of field training for the branch inspectors and for them to learn how to deal with the complaints presented to the commission as well as learning how to use its electronic systems in applying certification procedures.
