- HERAT, Afghanistan: Sixteen people, including 11 children, were killed on Tuesday when a roadside bomb detonated under a van carrying a group back from an engagement party in western Heart province, a local government official said.
The adult victims of the blast were four women and the driver, said Abdul Raoof Ahmadi, a spokesman for the provincial governor.
Four people were wounded, the provincial police chief’s office said in a statement.
