The federation said in a statement on Friday that Aamir Atlas Khan, Yasir Butt and Waqr Mehboob had been suspended for different terms by the former squash powerhouse.

A committee reached the conclusion after a thorough analysis of video recordings and said the players “under-performed” and “did not uphold the good name of Pakistan squash.”

However, Pakistan’s former world champion Jahangir Khan criticized the bans and reckoned the committee did not have the technical know-how to decide if the players under-performed.

“The federation is trying to cover up its failures and it should appoint a high powered council of former players to decide what happened in the world championships. But the bans at present are unfair and not justified,” Khan told Reuters.
