While Georgia has no chance of reaching the quarterfinals, it can thwart Argentina's progress with an upset win in Palmerston North, depending on the outcome of pool B's other match between England and Scotland.

"The Georgian team have embraced the Rugby World Cup," Georgia coach Richie Dixon said. "We've fronted up to the matches and we've played in a way that demonstrates our respect for the tournament. We've also established a good rapport with the New Zealand public."

Argentina comprehensively beat Georgia 33-3 at the World Cup four years ago, where it went on to reach the semifinals.

But under Dixon's guidance, Georgia is an improved side, beating Romania 25-9, narrowly losing to Scotland 15-6 and holding England 17-10 at halftime before eventually going down 41-10.

"We want to gain the respect of everybody we play against, and to be fair I think the team have done that," Dixon added. "We just need more exposure to these high-level games on a regular basis."

Argentina will be taking the threat from a physical Georgia side very seriously.

"We know most of their players, we know them quite well because we've already played them at the last World Cup," Argentina captain Felipe Contepomi said. "We know they are a very strong team, and it would be a big thing for them if they could get a win against us."

England has 14 points and is favorite to top the group, while Argentina and Scotland have 10 points apiece.

At this stage, Scotland can advance with a big win over England, or relying on Georgia to beat the Pumas without conceding a bonus point.

Contepomi, who is recovering well from a rib injury earlier in the tournament, will have qualification and a personal record in mind. He needs to score 18 points to break Hugo Porta's Argentine record of 590 international points.

Teammate Mario Ledesma, meanwhile, will play his 17th Rugby World Cup match, extending his record for Argentina and moving within one of the record for a hooker held by Raphael Ibanez of France.

Other records are also set to be broken at Arena Manawatu.

Georgia has named its most experienced ever lineup for a World Cup match, with the starting XV tallying 563 test caps.

David Kacharava and Tedo Zibzibadze start together in midfield for a record 14th time, breaking the record previously held by Zibzibadze and Irakli Giorgadze.

Meanwhile, fullback Malkhaz Urjukashvili, who has 316 Test points, needs only five more to pass Pavle Jimsheladze.

In one of six changes to its starting lineup, Dixon left flyhalf Merab Kvirikashvili on the bench, despite him scoring 17 of Georgia's 25 points against Romania.

"Merab is on the bench and we want to give our other number 10 (Lasha Khmaladze) a run," Dixon said. "If he has to come on, he will. He's also suffered a slight strain which is another reason why (he was left out)."

Lesko Gugava returns to the side at right wing in place of Revaz Gigauri.

"We've tried to create a bit more balance to our game," Dixon added. "In our last match against Romania, which was a local derby so to speak, the boys knew each other a bit too well and we thought this team announcement should take in some changes."

Giant backrower Mamuka Gorgodze, who scored Georgia's try against Romania, moves from flanker to No. 8 and Viktor Kolelishvili joins the team on the openside flank.

Levan Datunashvili replaces Ilia Zedginidze at lock while Akvsenti Giorgadze replaces Jaba Bregvadze at hooker and Vasil Kakovin takes over from David Khinchagishvili at looshead prop.

"Argentina is a strong team in the rucks, scrums and their center line. But we will try to play our own way, which is playing forward and giving the ball to the centers," Georgia scrumhalf and captain Irakli Abuseridze said. "We've improved a lot through the years. In 2003 when we played England, they beat us (by) 80 points, so things are different."

Argentina has made five changes to the starting lineup that edged Scotland 13-12 last weekend.

Three of the changes are among the forward pack and two are forced by injuries, the most serious involving backrower Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe, who was ruled out of the tournament with cruciate ligament damage.

Lobbe is replaced by Leonardo Senatore, while Marcos Ayerza takes the place of prop Rodrigo Roncero, who has a groin injury. Roncero should be fit for the quarterfinals if Argentina advances.

Lucas Gonazalez Amorosino, who scored the winning try against Scotland, comes in at fullback for Martin Rodriquez.

Juan Jose Imhoff comes in at left wing in place of Gonzalo Comacho, and Horacio Agulla moves over to the right wing.
