Leader Ed Miliband said Friday that he was promoting “a new generation of Labour talent” to take on Britain’s governing coalition of the Conservative Party and smaller Liberal Democrats.

Notable appointments were 32-year-old ex-lawyer Chuka Umunna to take on the party’s business brief and ex-economist Rachel Reeves, also 32, to become No. 2 in the party’s Treasury team.

Both were elected to Parliament last year. They are joined in Miliband’s team by fellow new legislators Liz Kendall, Michael Dugher, Stephen Twigg and Margaret Curran.

Tabloid phone-hacking campaigner Tom Watson was named the party’s deputy chairman.
