“The DRS will not be used during the forthcoming one-day international series between India and England following a decision by the developers and suppliers of Hotspot not to make their infra-red cameras available for the five-match series,” the ICC said in a press release.

The ICC said it was not possible to use the DRS without the Hotspot technology.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India, which has always opposed the DRS because it did not trust ball tracking technologies, subsequently agreed to the DRS subject to the availability of the Hotspot technology.

The DRS was then used during India’s tour of England.

But the BCCI changed its stance again last month and said it opposed Hotspot after some inconclusive decisions in England.

“At the time, we were under the impression that Hotspot was very good,” BCCI president Narainswamy Srinivasan said. “It is not necessary for me to dwell on the accuracy of Hotspot as it was there for everybody to see.”

Srinivasan also said that he would raise the issue with the ICC because the BCCI did not want the DRS to be used in its present form.

England plays a five-game one-day series in India starting in Hyderabad on Oct. 14. The tour culminates with a Twenty20 game in Kolkata on Oct. 29.
