T. Arifali, chairman of the group, presided over the function. Minister for Social Welfare Dr. M.K. Muneer, M.K. Raghavan, a member of the Parliament, Madhyamam Editor O. Abdurahman, Gulf Madhyamam Editor V.K. Hamza Abbas, M.D. Nalappat and Yaseen Ashraf gave felicitation speeches.

"Media One intends to redefine the conventional visual media formulae by following the path of value-based journalism that Madhyamam daily has strongly been advocating and spreading ever since its inception," the group said.

The statement said the launch of Media One would strengthen the group's continuing efforts for the empowerment of minorities, Dalits and other marginalized sects.

"Madhyamam daily has proved that ethical journalism is not just desirable and possible but feasible too," the group said. Gulf Madhyamam daily, an affiliate of the group, is now published from Saudi Arabia (Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah and Abha), UAE (Dubai), Oman (Muscat), Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar.

"Gulf Madhyamam is the oldest and largest Indian newspaper in the Middle East, with the highest number of editions (9 editions) in Gulf countries and is the market leader amongst Malayalam newspapers in the Middle East," the statement said.
