Pakistan’s Consul General Abdul Salik Khan speaking on the occasion said the Muslim Ummah and Muslims of the subcontinent were obliged to the farsightedness and political acumen of Allama Iqbal and Jinnah for the creation of homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent.

He said that Iqbal gave the idea of a separate homeland for the Muslims while the Quaid-e-Azam materialized the idea.

The consul general said that commemoration of such functions should inspire people to follow and practice the teachings of these great leaders.

He said that the philosophy of Iqbal depicted the spirit of Qur’an and Sunnah and the best tribute for these leaders was to practice their teachings and follow their footsteps.

Azad Iqbal, who was the chief guest, said Allama Iqbal was a great philosopher and practical Muslim. He shed light on different aspects of the life of Iqbal and narrated couplets from “Shikwa and Jawab Shikqwa.”

He added that Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah can revive their glory by strictly following the dictates of Qur’an and Sunnah.

Earlier, school Principal Ashfaq Mahmood and Irfan Hashmi, president of Aalmi Urdu Markaz welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of the occasion and various aspects of the lives of the two great leaders. Later, the consul general inaugurated an exhibition of photographs of Allama Iqbal and the Quaid-e-Azam.
