- "We always write songs that have a message for a better and brighter future.
- We always have motivational messages.
Looking for something fresh and cultivating, we found this Saudi band to be a rocking surprise package. Disturb The Balance, an Alternative Rock/Metal band was formed mid November 2008. It was originally discovered by lead vocalist, Moe Zein, and has five band members: Bader Awad on the drums, bassist Saif Mufti, guitarist Bandar Awad and Marwan Ghaziri on they keyboard.
Working on his talent, Moe Zein told Arab News that he always believed that nothing was impossible. “We are the problem, and we are the solution.”
He inspired aspiring artists and youth hungry for local magic and shaped it further. Zein decided to make a band out of his dream and started a group on Facebook and called it “Making a band in Saudi Arabia.” He auditioned a lot of young talented artists, and in this process, formed his band.
DTB’s vocalist describes music as pure art like dew on a leaf. “We compose spontaneously and always play what we feel,” he says. The people are left to label it the way they feel it and hear it.
Hitting the right notes, DTB has set its objectives and dreams on the brink of musical fantasy. Zein said the bands main motivation is the support from their family and friends. Still young and 15 songs later, DTB has no plans to stop.
As a music and jamming enthusiast, I had to know what it feels like to infuse music into magic during a jamming session. Zein admitted: “The best feeling is how we bond with each other — the chemistry between us. And the best among them all is when we come up with something new and develop it to great and pure art.”
Zein discussed DTB’s inspirations and influences. “I was inspired with soul, ballad and pop artists, such as Mariah Carey who is my main inspiration, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Westlife , Michael Jackson , Kenny Rogers, Boys 2 Men and lots of great musicians.”
He said he was taken aback with the purity, spontaneity and impassioned tones of the singers. “Lately, I am inspired by Nickelback , Daughtry and Breaking Benjamin.”
A few great Japanese composers, such as Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mitsuda, inspire Marwan Ghaziri, the keyboardist and a gamer, who loves a fantasy symphony style of music. The band In Flames stimulated Saif Mufti, the bassist. “Guitarist Bandar Awad is enthused by John Petrucci from Dream Theatre band and Killswitch Engage. He loves their style and rhythm. Drummer Bader Awad was motivated by drummer Travis Barker from Blink 182.”
Zein spoke about the scarcity of music platforms for the youth in the country. “The only obstacle is that we don’t have much of an opportunity to play live for our fans.” He believes the youth are talented and have a lot to bring to the table.
Yet, DTB’s strength remains intact in being entirely independent. “We discover talent without guidance, and we develop it without any support independently.” He asserted DTB strives hard in the pursuit of happiness and in the journey to achieve their goals.
DTB advises aspiring artists and the talented youth to have faith. “Always believe that yes you can achieve your dreams and set goals. Finally, play music or sing what you feel and what you think is right with you mind and soul — this will help reach out faster. Also, be active, always aim for daily improvement and be optimistic.”
Talking about their goals in life, and particularly music, Zein said: “Music is a hobby and a side project to each one of us. It is a priority in our lives after our professional work. Our personal goal is to have our own record label and push the market of the music industry to grasp our vision in music. Furthermore, we have now built a reasonable home studio, so we are chasing our goals.”
He believes the bottom line is giving the listeners the potential to make some good changes for the betterment of society. Listening to the band and jamming in a room, you can feel what they play. And the best thing about music is that when it hits, you feel no pain.
