The section of the wall of an under-construction building fatally injured the Bangladeshi workers when it collapsed at 10 a.m. Co-workers and onlookers rushed to help them, but they died at the scene.

"The workers have been identified as Ibrahim, 55, Najir, 47, and his brother Manjil, 60," said an official of the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh on Thursday.

He added these workers were from the impoverished region of Comilla, located along Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, in southeastern Bangladesh.

The families of the victims have been informed. The bodies of the workers, according to the Bangladesh Embassy, were kept at a local hospital and all steps were being taken to send the bodies home as early as possible.

A relative of the victims, Shafiqul Islam, said the three men had been working as wall painters and helpers in Saudi Arabia for the last 12 years.

They were working on the construction site of a four-story building in Riyadh. Police removed bodies from the spot a few hours after the accident.

The Kingdom is home to over 1 million Bangladeshi workers.
