- TAIF: Eleven beggars, who were arrested in Taif on Wednesday, told the police that they were able to make more than SR50,000 in a month from begging, Al-Madinah newspaper reported Thursday quoting the committee which combats begging in the summer resort southern city.
The committee comprises representatives from the security, passport and traffic police, the social affairs department, and the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Haia).
The committee said it arrested 96 beggars, including 70 foreigners, in a single month as a result of its daily raids in various parts of the city.
