- JEDDAH: Civil Defense in Jeddah has noted a number of technical loopholes including insufficient safety measures at the social observation home in Jeddah, Al-Madinah daily reported Monday.
The Civil Defense report said the building had neither a construction suitability certificate, nor a fire-fighting system or a network of warning systems. It also noted that the emergency exits of the building were closed.
The officials in charge of the home should make a comprehensive safety plan, supply the building with sufficient safety tools and to keep the emergency exits open at all times, especially since the home contains a number of educational facilities.
Director of social affairs in Jeddah, Abdullah Al-Tawi, said he took note of all the observations of the Civil Defense and would implement the safety measures as recommended in the report.
He said a new building for the correction home would be built in the north of Jeddah, after a contract would be signed with a contractor.
